Mission Statement

• The primary mission of the faculty of the Basic Science Department of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Biomedical Science is to become a major center for research into the molecular, cellular and behavioral basis of human diseases, with the ultimate goal of developing innovative treatments.
• We are committed to achieving distinction in graduate education, including training students to conduct research in biomedical science and to enter professional schools of their choice, as well as making significant contributions to curriculum development and the education of medical students in the UMMSM at FAU program.
